large stone gate on the south side marks the formal entrance to the Classical Chinese Garden, Portland, Multnomah County Oregon, USA. In 1985 Portland became a sister city with Suzhou, China. The Classical Chinese Garden Society was formed in 1989 with the goal of creating a Suzhou-style garden in the heart of downtown Portland. The Garden encompasses an entire city block and has an 8,000 square-foot lake with 10,000 square feet of landscaping, 9 pavilions, a teahouse and a souvenir shop.
